• So I’m trying to move my WordPress file from its subdirectory to my public_html in cpanel and it’s proving rather difficult. I don’t have experience using cPanel or with moving WordPress files and thought I could just move the WP file by selecting “Move File”. When I went to look at my site, the right information was there, but wasn’t using the theme.

I then downloaded the WP file, deleted it from the database, and tried to re-upload it. Of course, this didn’t work either. After messing around with it some more and uninstalling reinstalling WordPress on cPanel, I now have a copy of my finished WordPress site in a zip file on my desktop and no idea how to put my finished site back on the FTP.

Is there any way I can put the zip file of the completed site back onto my server? Do I need to delete the installed WordPress? Or will I just have to rebuild the site from the beginning?

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks so much for the help!

  • There was no sctual reason to remove anything from the database.Upload the entire WordPress folder with themes and plugins into the folder that you want them in.

Follow instructions on forgetting to change your location:

Thanks. I uploaded the file to the root directory, but get this message when trying to access the page:

    “Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

Do I need to adjust my wp-config.php?

You need to check two things:
    1. The files you uploaded should have right permissions so server could execute them correctly.

    2. The .htaccess file should be present and should have been uploaded along with other files.
