Trouble settingup

Hello All,

I’m struggling through getting my self hosted website going. Actually I got it going but now I’m really lost.
I’m only semi literate with IT so as I went through the entire process of setting everything up from scratch, including my WordPress account I just followed the prompts. But shouldn’t WordPress 4.8.1 be installed somewhere on my computer? I have a folder & lots of files in my downloads but no icon on the desktop and nothing listed in the installed programs. Did something go wrong here?
