• I am trying to update the theme I am using, as a new version has come out. WordPress doesn’t show that an update to this theme is available, so I downloaded it from the creator’s page. I tried to upload it in WordPress, but receive an error that it is already installed.

I can’t quite figure out how to just delete the theme I have and reinstall it, or if there is another recommended route.

    Thanks!

  • If it were me I would save the current theme to my computer first in case you have problems with the updated one. Do you have a child theme as well?

Do you know how to access you site via ftp?

well what is good is that this is an entirely new site, with NO information loaded yet. So I’m not worried about losing anything a this point!

But I do need to know how to access via FTP…

then you can delete and reinstall the new one.

As for the ftp, you’ll need to ask your hosting company for the info you’ll need to log in.

    It’s no secret that I’m new at this… ??

but I’ve been looking for that magical “delete” button on nearly every page and it eludes me still! Definitely not on Appearance:Manage Themes… (the logical location)

Yeah, I think I remember that was removed from one of the recent updates.

You’ll have to remove from the ftp. Call the host!

    Good luck ??
