Trouble updating to 3.8

  • I am trying to update my WordPress site to 3.8, but when I do the automatic update it gets stuck downloading the update. Nothing happens.
    I don’t get an error message, but the screen is stuck on this message:
    Downloading update from https;//www.ads-software.com/wordpress-3.8-newbundled.zip…

    I let it stay on that screen for hours and nothing happened. So I went back to the dashboard and everything was just the same as before. And I was still being asked to update to 3.8. So I clicked auto update again and the same thing happened. I waited a couple days and tried again. Still the same result.

    In the past, the auto updates have worked like a charm. I’m not very website set-up savvy, so haven’t tried a manual update.

    What’s the deal? What should I do?

  • Hello! Fancy finding you here! Not sure what the exact issue would be with the auto-update, but I could possibly do a manual update for you sometime this week, if you like. I’ll be doing the same for our sites. You can connect with me via Facebook or email. Just happened upon your ‘new’ site tonight … will have to be sure to add it to my Feedly.

    I’m having the same problem: I can’t upgrade plug-ins or to WordPress 3.8. It just hangs in downloading mode forever. So if you two do indeed find a solution, it would be great to post it here. Thanks!
