• I can get text (or pictures) to show when using the “about” template writing pages. I’m trying to use it for an “about me”. Instead of my text, I get “Write your text here”.

I suppose I’d get the same effect using the default template but not allowing comments, but I’d like to figure out the problem. Searched, no soap. ANy thoughts?

  • The about template? Is this something that came with the theme you’re using? If so, you’d need to edit the template file directly and make sure it has a version of The Loop in it; otherwise it won’t display content from your ‘about me’ Page entry.

For an example of how a Page template is *normally* constructed, take a look at page-php from the default theme. You could even copy The Loop within that to your template.

I think I can use that to fix it (as well as another problem). I thought the “about” template (which appears on the Write Page dashboard under templates) was part of WP, not the template–although now that you point it out, I can see that it is. Thanks (and thanks for the speed). Sorry to post a template problem here.

“Sorry to post a template problem here.”

I wouldn’t be. The thread better fits in the Templates and Design forum, but sometimes you don’t know that until you have the answer you’re looking for.
