Trouble with AWPCP

    I recently installed Another WordPress Classifieds Plugin (AWPCP). I set up 3 categories of ad and each has 3 or 4 subcategories. It works fine except for one thing. When I try to choose a category for an ad, only 3 of the 4 categories I created show up.

    This is not a plug-in conflict issue. I tried deactivating all my plug-ins and it did not fix the problem. I tried updating all my plug-ins and my entire system. Nothing worked. Can someone tell me how to file a support ticket? Thanks.

    Sorry that you ran into issues here!

    I can help you here, no problem. Can you show me a screenshot of the setup under Classifieds->Categories? And a screenshot of the Place Ad page where you only see 3 of 4 categories available?

    Did you change it so that ads can only be placed in leaf categories? And that one of the categories is a “top level” category?

    My guess is that a setting is off, but it’s hard to tell what off hand.

    Please let me know.

    I don’t believe this. All of a sudden all four of my categories are appearing just fine. I did a “dummy” ad, approved it and it’s appearing just fine. But if this problem occurred once, could it occur again? Anyway, I took a screen shot of the list of all my categories: My ad categories

    Hi Clare,

    Sounds like you have a caching plugin that is holding on to “old” data and you don’t see your results of updates right away. If you don’t flush the cache after any AWPCP operation–like adding categories, placing ads, etc, you’ll be seeing old data on your browser.

    We recommend clearing the server cache, if you have one (which is found either in your hosting settings or on your plugin settings for things like WP Super Cache and W3TC if you have them installed), as well as your client browser cache.

    The best way to get uncached data on your browser is to use a Private browsing window or Incognito mode (depending on your browser). That ensures you’re seeing the latest, correct data.

    This is normal behavior for caches because they are trying to improve the speed of your site by balancing “liveness” with “ease of data fetching”. I wouldn’t recommend turning that off.
