trouble with encoding and swedish letters ?…???–

  • hello!

    on https://www.top-10-list.com i have WP 1.5 and swedish installed.
    i admin i have choosen UTF-8 as encoding.

    i cant get the ?…, ?? and ?– to show up right…
    in firefox the searchbutton for my adsense google searchfield looks ok except for the ?– that shows up as ?
    but in Internet Explorer the searchbutton are very strangelooking…

    how and what to do, anyone?

  • The correct character set you should be using is actually ISO 8859-4, not UTF-8 ??

    That’s a wrong advice Pplproof…
    Since the OP has his/her posts already encoded in utf-8, changing the encoding would mess up all the posts! UTF-8 is “correct” for any language!

    Because whatever you put in manually in the code (sidebar.php) is not encoded correctly in utf-8.
    Actually utf-8 works perfectly in your posts ??

    but now i tried changing everything to ISO-8859-1
    dreamweaverpreferences, googles code and setup in WP1.5-admin and everything seems to work fine…
    had to change every old posts though but now its ok…
