• I’m trying to create a gallery page. After following the instructions in WordPress Support on creating a gallery, two things are not working the way they should:

    1. After uploading the images to create a gallery, in steps 7 and 8 of the tutorial I do not have the “type” option to select tile, square, circle or slideshow.

    2. Continuing on with ignoring the “type” part of step 8, I inserted the gallery and the thumbnails show up on my page. However, when I click on a thumbnail, I get this error message: “Image cannot be loaded. Make sure the path is correct and image exist.” Happens in all major browsers: Safari, FF and IE.

Here is a link to a sample page that displays this message: https://bluelakedesigntx.com/?page_id=20

I have tried this on multiple sites using different themes, and keep getting the same results. I’m using the latest version of WordPress. I have also tried using gallery plugins like NexGen Gallery, Grand Flash Album Gallery and Gallery Plugin, and get the same error message with each one.

I read a thread on the forum about IIS and IUSR permissions (link to this), but I didn’t understand anything about what they were talking about or how to go about fixing it. Is this my problem? If so, then I’ll need some help with it.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

  • The tutorial you linked to is for WordPress.COM sites – it may not be applicable to self-hosted sites or all themes or gallery plugins.

To try to track down the problem, you need to deactivate all your plugins and switch to the default WP theme (twentytwelve). See if you can insert images then.

Ah, thank you for clarifying the first point. Makes sense!

On the error message problem, all plugins were deactivated in the test, but I did switch the theme to twentytwelve and it worked. So that means the problem is with the theme. I will contact the theme developer about the problem.

    Thanks for your quick reply!
