I use GoDaddy and their version of WP for my blog. But continue to lose embedded power points in the blog, but not the text. Anyone know how to fix this? Should I be using www.ads-software.com instead (I am assuming that GoDaddy uses WordPress.com)? Look at my blog at aesconsult.com.

I have called GoDaddy support several times but they disavow any knowledge or responsibility for this issue. I am not a technical person, but really need to fix my website and am considering scrapping what I have on GoDaddy and using another site builder.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Its true that GoDaddy are probably not responsible for this problem. They just provide the server and install the software for you.
Firstly how do you embed powerpoints?
Secondly is https://dev.aesconsult.com/wordpress/ your site and does it show the problem?

Tom, thanks for your reply. For the powerpoints, I simply do a copy and paste. And yes, you have the right url for my blog but can also see it being used at AESConsult.com. When you go to the blog page, you will see a ? early in the blog where the powerpoint used to be. Funny, when I drafted the blog, the PPT appeared as I viewed the post prior to updating/uploading it. But once I went back into my website on GoDaddy, the charts disappeared again. Very frustrating.

WordPress.COM sites are hosted on WordPress.COM. Any sites hosted on GoDaddy are self-hosted www.ads-software.com sites.

You can’t just copy/paste a powerpoint into a HTML page. This may enable you to do what you want:

Thanks for the clarification re WP.com and WP.org. You mention that I can’t simply copy/paste into an HTML page. For me as a novice at this, how would I do that? Thanks for your help.

See edited post above — if that plug-in does not work, try looking for another one on the plug-ins page.

Tom and WPyogi, thanks for your help. Embarrassing to be such a novice. I was able to get all this to work with Sky Drive. Did not know that I could not simply copy and paste the embedded PPT presentation. A real learning experience for me. Many thanks to you both.
