• My site is hosted by namecheap, and through cPanel I was routed to softaculous to install wordpress onto my site. I have now attempted to install wordpress numerous times, but after installation is complete, I get a sad-face page that reads “No data received.” I get this page when I try to load the login page, when I try to load the admin page, and when I try to go directly to my domain. Any ideas on what I might be doing incorrectly?

  • It sounds like it may be a DNS issue. Did you just register the name? If so it could take a few hours to propagate.

I registered a couple of days ago. Would it take days?

No. It would only take a few hours so that probably is not the issue.

If you are using the “one click installer” that they provide/recommend then there really should not be much to it. Have you tried contacting namecheap? I’m not familiar with their support options. If you could provide the URL, I or someone else could probably be much more helpful ??

It can take up to 72 hours for a new domain name to propagate fully.

@shodyesq – did you also buy your domain from namecheap?

In addition to what the others have said, if you bought the domain somewhere else (such as GoDaddy for example), you will have to set the domain nameservers (DNS) of your domain to point to your namecheap hosting account nameservers. You would do so where you bought the domain.

    Hi,

I am from the Softaculous team.

The error “No data received” comes when the DNS is not propagated properly. Please try to ping your domain and check if it points to the correct IP or try a domain lookup. If the DNS is not correct please update your Nameservers properly or contact your host to get the correct nameservers.
Once this is fixed the installation should work fine.
