• I haven’t had trouble with this until recently but now when I upload all my images for my post and click “Insert All”, the images all come up as question mark boxes in the post instead of images. They are not over the 32MB limit and if I insert them all individually, it works- so there isn’t a problem with each image. There’s something preventing me from getting them all to insert at the same time. I’m really hoping for a fix for this as it takes a *LONG* time to upload them individually as I normally upload 30-40 images. Please help! Thank you-

  • Hey Christine – this isn’t an uncommon problem.

Your 32MB max is normal – but in addition to it a lot of hosting platforms limit the amount of time that it will spend uploading images (also known as scripting limitations).

Here’s my advice – make sure any image you are uploading is less than 2MB and try loading one at a time, then two at a time, then three.

Not ideal, but it will give you an idea of your server’s limitations.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I’m not sure that’s the issue. For almost a year I never had any trouble posting all my pics an once- all loaded and it only took a matter of seconds. Then all of a sudden, I can’t even do two at one time. Nothing on my end has changed (file size, format, hosting, etc.) It seems it started happening around the same time I uploaded the 3.4.1 version.

    Any other ideas, all?

    Thanks again.

    I’ve been thinking about this.

Is it possible that the default location of uploads was changed during the most recent WP upgrade?

Under Settings -> Media -> Upload Files heading you should check and see what the values are. Question mark boxes would entail that the link to the image is broken – not necessarily that they aren’t being loaded.

Thank you for giving it a second thought. Nothing appears out of place there. This is what it says-

    wp-content/uploads

It shows that is what the default is supposed to be.

Something strange happened I think with that WordPress upgrade- I just don’t know what else it would be. Any other ideas of where to look for something gone awry?
