Hello, I run latest version of WP and Jetpack but this started happening to me with previous versions too.

I used to have Publicize connected to my social accounts with no problems (except for certain bugs with FB not publishing etc but I believe you had addressed these laready) and recently I’ve been experiencing the following problem:

When I try to connect Publicize to Facebook I get FB log in screen, enter my pass but then the WP screen dims and all I get is a beige rectangle with a thin line in it and a check mark to close the window. It seems there should be a menu opening to allow me to choose to “Allow all users to use this account” or something like that but that windows never opens.

When I close this window Publicize gets logged out of WP and prompts me to activate it with WP again. Once I activate it Publicize does not show any connected Social accounts.

Tricky thing is that even if I don’t activate the accounts, and it shows as not activated and no social accounts connected under Publicize, my posts are still published to G+, Twitter and LinkedIn but not FB. I think this info is stored somewhere and is not being reset.

At this point I tried deleting all cookies, temp files, tried other browsers, tried uninstalling Jetpack, even made sure through my Cpanel all was gone and when I reinstall same problem persists. This is only on one blog, my other blogs do not have this issue. (Blog is: San Jose Green Home . com)

Any thoughts? Thank you very much.

My first thought is have you tried with all other plugins disabled? I’m thinking another plugin may be introducing Javascript that is impacting the loading of the modal window.

Related, another way to check, is to check your browser’s console for any Javascript errors when that blank box appears. Instructions on how to load the console depending on your browser can be found at https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/advanced-browser-troubleshooting/#javascript-errors

Hi I tried disabling all plugins, clearing all cashe, disabled pretty much everything but the Jetpack plugin and still experiencing the same issue.

For example I go to Settings/Sharing. Non of my Social account show active. I click to Connect to Facebook, it connect but then gives me that dimmed screen with a stuck screen (that should expand for more options). If I close it, I am back at SHARING with all my Social accounts active and there. If I try to remove Facebook I get thrown out and get a message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” After which I have to log in back to wordpress and connect to WP account for Jetpack to work.

Any more ideas would be very welcome ??

Should I post the javascript messages into here?

Yes, please. If there are more than one or two, you can paste them at https://pastebin.com and paste a link to the pastebin here.

To confirm, each time you log out, it requests that you reconnect Jetpack to WordPress.com? That’s really odd too.

Two last things: Did you try with a default theme (e.g. Twenty Fourteen) to confirm no theme conflict and what’s your site’s URL?

If you would like to stay private, you can contact us via https://jetpack.me/contact-support/ and please include a link to this page so we can be sure we’re on the same page still ??

    Cheers!

Hi Brandon, the site is sanjosegreenhome.com. Here is a pastbin link with the script:

I have the same theme (it is Thesis 2.1, Classic Responsive) on some other site with WP Jetpack, not experiencing the same problem anywhere else.

Please kindly read the problem as described above. You are requesting to confirm an assessment that is not quite accurate. Hope you can help me out here, I’m out of wits with this frustrating problem. ??

i was googling around to find the answer of my jetpack problem, and i came across this thread and realize that i’m facing exactly the same problem with tadasland. i also have tried everything, re-installing, disabling all plugins, using default theme, and all. nothing worked.
this problem occured right after i updated to jetpack 3.0. before updating, everything worked fine. looking forward to your solutions, thanks!

Hi tadasland, I see Publicize connections on your site now; do you still have this problem, then?

    xtrabld: What’s your site’s URL?

    my site’s URL is https://www.thebabybirds.net/stories/

please let me know if you need anything else to help me out with this problem.
    thanks!

xtrabld: I don’t see anything wrong with your site, and I see live Publicize connections as well. Could you start a new thread, and detail exactly what issue you are having, please?

Friends, my site url was in my first post: SanJoseGreenHome.com

Richard: yes, the problem is there. Thing is, non of my connections are showing in Publicize and they all publish except FB, even if they don’t show up in the Publicize connections list.

If I click connect on FB or Twitter, I go though sign in process and then get this unopened window kicked to me from WP.

If I close it, all my connections show up fine but then I want to remove FB (mainly because I am trying to set up so it posts on my page not my personal wall) and when I try to remove it (click on the X mark), then WP asks me “Are you sure you want to stop Publicizing posts to this connection?”

I click YES and next window says “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” and I’m logged out of my WP Blog entirely.

Once I log back in WP asks me to connect Jtepack to WP.ORG again. I authorize it. Then if I go to SHARING, none of my publiczize connections show up. And I’m back to where I started this process – Twitter, Google, posts, LinkedIn skips most of the time and FB doesn’t publish at all.

I’m attaching some images of this process I just described.

@ tadasland : I don’t know why you are getting this odd behaviour; have you tried deactivating your other plugins temporarily, to see if one of them is causing the conflict?

I also noticed that your site is not outputting Jetpack’s OpenGraph tags. This is causing problems for Facebook, and means that Publicize to Facebook will always fail:

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fsanjosegreenhome.com%2F2014%2F07%2F08%2Fmidori-uchi-canadas-first-net-zero-home-is-classy-sassy-and-green-dizzy%2F

This is sometimes because Jetpack deactivates it’s OG output if it detects another plugin another plugin that also outputs OG tags (to avoid duplicate tags, also a problem for Facebook). What plugins do you currently have active?

    Thread Starter tadasland

    (@tadasland)

Howdy, Brandon here already suggested I disable all plugins, so I did but it made no difference. Here is a list of my current plugins:

    AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget
    Ad Injection
    Advanced Related Posts
    Advanced Social Widget MailChimp Edition
    Akismet
    Bad Behavior
    Contact Form 7
    Facebook Social Plugin Widgets
    Select Google XML Sitemaps
    Jetpack by WordPress.com
    MailChimp
    Select NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster
Popular Posts Tabbed Widget for Jetpack
    Select W3 Total Cache
    WordPress Editorial Calendar

I am not sure why the site is not outputting Jetpack’s OpenGraph tags. I’ve had issues with posting to FB and posting images showing up properly (first one is always missing). If anyone could help me figure this out it would be great.

    Plugin Contributor Richard Archambault

    (@richardmtl)

    Select NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster

That’s why the OG tags aren’t being output:

    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/blob/master/class.jetpack.php#L147

That lack of OG tags would cause what you describe:

I’ve had issues with posting to FB and posting images showing up properly (first one is always missing).

Now, as for the main issue of problems with the actual Facebook connections, you have tried without any other plugins active and with the default theme, correct? If that’s the case and you still have the same error message and behaviour (being logged out of your WordPress site), I wonder if there’s something in your .htaccess file that’s causing a problem, maybe? Could you post the content of it here, please?

    Hi Richard,

I’ve been having the exact same issue as described above. Here is my htaccess content:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

Any ideas? Thanks for your time.
