trouble with theme unit test data in thematic theme

I am testing, or more like writing a new theme using the Thematic theme as a base: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/thematic.
I am using the www.ads-software.com test data:
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Theme_Unit_TestAny way I cannot access sub pages and am trying to determine the cause, most likely one of the following:
a)improperly set settings in dashboard.
b)incomplete theme (I am using it as base for theme I am writing and hope to make it as complete as possible.
c)flaw in testdata.
Anyone else have this problem with thematic/the test data?
