    Hello Robin,

I LOVE this plugin! It’s solving several issues I’ve been having with BBpress.

I’m still having an issue with my profile pages though, and I was wondering if you could help me out.

The user navigation (located under the avatar) in the bbpress profile page, does not seem to be working properly. The links are empty (even though there have been topics written and replies created). This happened BEFORE I downloaded the Private Groups plugin.

Here’s a link to my own bbpress profile page: https://bellynsoul.com/forums/students/admin/

I have a ticket open with bbpress as well, but part of my question relates specifically to Private Groups…

Since the forum in question is private, I don’t want anyone to have access to the Replies and Topics, but I would like users to have easy access to their own posts and Favorites.

Is there a way to accomplish this? Are student profiles private? If so, that would solve everything (well, almost everything :)).

    Thank you!
    Sharon

I should clarify my “private profile” comment…

Ideally, I’d love to have bbpress profiles visible to other students in the group, but not public.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks again!

And please ignore the first part of my question regarding the links not working properly. This is now fixed. The only issue I’m having now is visibility of posts through the profile page…

    Thanks!

apologies for the delay in responding – usually I get an email for new subjects, but this one and you other one didn’t alert me !

and further apologies, but I’m not clear what your remaining issue is.

Can you add a post below this by cutting and pasting from above creating the remaining question, and I’ll come back soonest !

Noooo worry at all, Robin. Sorry, this post does sound rather convoluted! ??

    To simplify…

If a non-registered, non-logged in person happens to land on a student’s profile, and clicks either Topics Started, Replies Created, or Favorites, they can see the post topics. In fact, Replies Created actually shows the full reply, without having to click on the post.

Here’s an example of what I mean.

    https://bellynsoul.com/forums/students/admin/replies/

Is there any way this can be hidden too? Or at least seen only by those registered for that particular forum?

I hope that makes more sense…

    Thanks again!

ok, I can’t immediately replicate this on my site.

    can you tell me

    Forum Visibility

    Forum visibility – active/non active
    Redirect pages – active/non active
    URL for login
    URL for non logged in
    Freshness – active/non active
    Freshness Message

    General Settings

Hide topic and reply counts – active/non active
    Show Descriptions – active/non active
Remove ‘Private Prefix’ – active/non active

    Thread Starter sharongraylac

    (@sharongraylac)

    Sure!

    Forum Visibility: unchecked
    Redirect: active
    URL logged in: https://bellynsoul.com/bbpress-private-page/
    URL non- logged in: same
    Freshness: unchecked
Hide topic and reply counts: active
    Show descriptions: unchecked
    Remove Private Prefix: active

Please let me know if there is anything else you need.

    Thanks!

sorry for the delay in replying – I can’t see why this won’t work for you.

I think you need to eliminate plugins and themes

    Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and private groups and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwelve, and see if this fixes.

    Then come back

    Hello Robin!

I’m so sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I’ve been in the middle of moving, and everything has been put on hold for a bit.

I did what you suggested, and went straight to a default theme, and I’m still having the trouble.

Just so I know we are looking at the same thing, would you mind checking out the following page and clicking the links under the profile photo?

    https://bellynsoul.com/forums/students/admin/

Now now of my topics seem to show, even when I am logged in, viewing my own profile. The replies, however, are now including blog posts. Really odd. I haven’t done anything to my site since I wrote you.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks!

P.S. I also disabled all plugins except for BBPress and Private Groups, and nothing changed… I can still read students topics and replies through their profile (via the links under their avatar), which means everyone else can too. Thanks again for your help!

    Thread Starter sharongraylac

    (@sharongraylac)

P.P.S. Feel free to test with the student profile name “admin”. As you can see, the Topics are only coming up as titles, and if you click on them, this will lead you to the private page. This works great! The random blog post glitch seems to have resolved itself… The problem is lies in the REPLIES. The full post is visible to anyone who clicks on the replies link. Hope this makes more sense! ?? Thanks again…

hmm, when I click say ‘checking in’ from a reply, I get

‘Sorry, this is a private forum.

To learn more about Belly & Soul’s forums, please visit our Class page.’

But you should not be seeing even the replies.

Can you email me the settings in dashboard>settings>forums

send this via the email, address in my website

Sorry, I should be more specific with my link names on the Profile page…

When you click on “Topics Created”, it works well, as you describe.

When you click on “Replies Created”, the problem occurs…

    Hopefully this helps! ??

I’m happy to send you my settings as well.

    Thanks again!
