    Hey,

I’m currently trying to move my website using woocommerce, from the default paypal system included in woocommerce, to this new paypal plugin.

First – terrible experience getting any kind of support for this plugin. I’ve been pushed over and over again by Paypal by email to upgrade to this plugin (rather than the default one included in woocommerce), and they mentioned the old one will not be supported soon … but can’t provide an exact date.

So, question 1: any idea of what’s the deadline, if any, to switch to this plugin ?

So, I’ve installed the plugin on my DEV website (a copy of my PROD one), to test things out, and connected it to my account.

When viewing the website as guest, no issues at all.

When viewing the website when connected to your WP account, I just get a blank page. Our WP Cerber extension also panicks, throwing out the following errors:

I’ve confirmed this is due to the Paypal plugin as deactivating it stops the error. This only happens when connected to your wordpress account, not when viewing the website as guest.

After multiple back-and-forth with Paypal Merchant Technical Support by email, their official statement is that Paypal does not develop these modules, and it should be checked with Woocommerce. It blows my mind that Paypal won’t provide support for its own plugin, but sure.

So, question 2: who do I actually get in touch with to solve this issue, since Paypal themselves doesn’t seem to be willing to help ? If anyone here has pointers on who to contact or how to further go on debugging this it’d be greatly appreciated.

I do actually want to switch to this plugin if that’s the recommended way to go forward, but it’s been frustrating so far.

    Hello @balanstik,

Yes, you have now contacted the correct team to help you out with any issue you might be having with the PayPal Payments Plugin. Sorry that it was so hard to find the right team!

The older plugin you are using, PayPal Standard, has indeed been sunset and has only very limited support to help you out. When any new issue arises with the code of this plugin, it will most likely not be fixed, since no development will be done (I could be wrong, and they might do some fixes). However, this is the reason that PayPal is pushing all users to switch to PayPal Payments.

For your second query, it appears there might be a conflict with one of your plugins. A common troubleshooting step in such situations is to perform a full conflict test to identify any issues caused by your theme or another plugin. We recommend temporarily activating the default theme Storefront and disabling all other plugins except for WooCommerce and PayPal Payments to see if the behavior persists.
Here’s a guide that explains the steps in more detail: How to test for conflicts.

If you don’t find any issue by doing this, we would like to review your logs and the system report to review your setup. You can copy the log files from here:

    • WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support
    • WooCommerce > Status > Logs > select “woocommerce-paypal-payments…” in the dropdown and click on view.

If you don’t feel comfortable sharing those details on a public forum, please open a ticket with our service desk. You can find the instruction for this here: https://paypal.inpsyde.com/docs/request-support/
(please add the URL of this thread in the ticket as well)

Please let us know how this goes for you and how we can further help you.

    Kind regards,
    Krystian

    Hey,

Glad to hear I found the right place, finally.

This reply was very helpful – I followed the link and the instructions.

After updating all plugins, there’s no error anymore.

There’s quite a few issues I still need to go through (like paypal deciding to add its buttons on product pages and checkout carts, adding the sofort thing without asking, etc), but it’s getting there. I also still need to test the payment, ad check there’s no issues during ordering as I saw there’s quite a few reports of duplicate orders.

Fwiw it seems this specific issue is solved, so I’ll mark it as solved, thanks for your time. If I need further information or things pop up I’ll reopen it.

    Regards,
