Troubleshoot, everything gets doubled

  • Hello, my website is fightingaids.org

    Whenever I go to the widgets section, and click on “Home Top”, whenever I try to add anything to this section, whether it be a text, an image or another widget, it automatically gets posted twice, even though I only put it once.

    It is very irritating, as it only happens with the “Home Top” section, but all the other sections work fine.
    Please let me know how I can fix this

    I would need to see the actual code to make sure, have you downloaded this theme from www.ads-software.com?
    If it is in the top area of the page, I would first look for a duplicate dynamic_sidebar(‘name-here’); in header.php.

    I believe the theme was downloaded. Im not really sure since I didnt create this website and tis my first time using wordpress, they just wanted me to tweak the site a little

    Yes the widget is duplicated. Did you try looking in header.php?

    This may sound stupid but i actually dont know how to access header.php and I dont know how the widget got duplicated or how to unduplicate it.
    I looked everywhere in the dashboard i couldnt find out how I can access that or how i can fix that widget

    Ok you need to be very careful when editing theme files, or more things might break. Do you know how to make a backup of the theme? Do you have access to the folders?

    I was able to backup the database but thats the only backup option i saw and it left me with an sql file.
    I have access to the admin page and dashboard how do i get access to the folder and theme files?

    You need to ask the organisation for access, and if they don’t know, ask their host how to get access to FTP or a control panel.

    (However, if the theme is no longer supported by the developer, or has not been updated in a year or so, I would suggest replacing it with a new theme )

    Ok thank you so much ill talk to them tomorrow and let you know what happens!
    But last question so is that widget a flawed one from the theme?
