    I am setting up a fresh install of Commons in a Box and am having some trouble getting this plugin to work, wondering if you can point me to some troubleshooting steps.

    Everything looks normal on the backend, and activity is populating the activity feed, but not getting any emails. Two things I’ve noticed:
    1) the ‘?sum=1’ readout is blank
    2) whatever I set as the email preference for a user (have tried with both admin and non-admin users), whether as the default or in changing it through the various menu-based approaches, the next time I look it’s always reset to “No Email”

    Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi @mbarany – Sorry to hear you’re having trouble.

    It sounds to me like BPGES may not have installed its database tables correctly. Do you have access to the database, via PHPMyAdmin or the command line or some other routine? Check to see whether you’ve got tables wp_bpges_queued_items and wp_bpges_subscriptions.

    If not, and if you have access to the command line with WP-CLI installed, then the easiest way to trigger table creation is as follows:

    $ wp bpges install-database

    Let me know what you find, and I can give more guidance if needed. In the meantime I’ll do some testing to ensure that the BPGES database setup routines run properly when installed through Commons In A Box.

    Thanks @boonebgorges , will see what I can access / figure out. My install of cbox is on a shared server with Reclaim Hosting.

    OK, I’m not seeing those tables via PHPMyAdmin. All the tables seem to have a CIAB prefix (e.g. ciab_bp_notifications), so might I have broken some separate setup within CIAB by updating the plugins following the prompts from the wp-admin interface?

    et voila, appears to be working after running wp bpges install-database.
    thanks @boonebgorges !
