Troubleshooting pictures in blog post emails

I just switched over to wordpress hosted on another site from a wordpress.com account and had to change my theme because my old one was not available. I’m now using Adventure Journal, and I’m trying to figure out how to get pictures in the post included in the summary sent out to my email subscribers. I always start my posts with a picture, and these are not making it into the email summary. Is this possible?
