• Hi

I wondered if anyone can help me troubleshoot my problem.

I have a website which was working perfectly, then I did a wordpress update and theme update and now the animated text and images are sometimes not showing up, or are coming in at a delayed time or just being erratic.

I had a copy of the files and database before the updates, so installed these on my home server and performed the updates there. It worked perfectly! I also deleted the caching plugin before doing these in case there was a conflict.

Then I replaced the database and files on the host with my updated home server files and am experiencing exactly the same image/text problems again.

The php version on the host is 5.6 so fine. All the memory limits, max vars etc. are correct. Disc usage, bandwidth etc. are all within the limits in the c panel.

So I’m running out of ideas! Why does the site work perfectly on my home server, but not on the host?

I have contacted the host and the theme developers are apparently looking at the problem as well.

If anyone has any ideas of what the cause of this could be I’d be very grateful.

    Many thanks in advance.

Do you know where the animations were coming from, your theme or a plugin? Could you link us an example webpage with the issue and tell us which elements are supposed to have the animations?

    Hi

Thanks for such a speedy reply!

    The website is at https://qpromotions.net/

It’s a one pager built with Brooklyn.

Basically if you scroll down you’ll see ‘sections’, the second section should have text on the right and an image on the left, the third text on the left and a graphic on the right – all animated. As you scroll down, then up again, the images/text are sometimes appearing sometimes not. I do have a link to where the site was originally on a development url a couple of months ago which would show you how it should look. Do you want this? The theme hasn’t been updated on the development host. I can’t remember if I updated wordpress here.

But I really just don’t understand why it’s fine on my home server, but not on the host. The host is also confused and I’m still waiting to hear from the theme makers. I’ve just run out of ideas to troubleshoot!!!

    Thanks

When I visited that page, I noticed that a script appeared to be missing:

    https://qpromotions.net/wp-content/plugins/ut-shortcodes/js/jquery.isInViewport.min.js?ver=1.0

Can you check the directory of that plugin and check if this file is there?

    Hi

    No it’s not there!

However, it’s not there in the files on my home server either – so not sure why it was working there?

I’ve also checked the theme update files I used and it’s not there either.

But it does make sense, I built the site using mainly shortcodes rather than composer, and it’s the shortcode sections which aren’t pulling through.

What do you suggest I do now?

Should I alert the theme makers?

My client is also having problems viewing the video on mobile, could this also be related?

    Thanks

I checked the animations for the 2nd section again and it looks like it’s working. Did you find out if the animations were coming from your theme? If so then the error should probably be raised to your theme authors and not the plugins. Also with the videos, is that coming from a plugin or does your theme have a section to upload videos? There’s a lot of unknowns on our side because we’re coming to your website as a stranger.

    Hi

The theme authors (united themes) also produce the plugin – it’s part of the theme package.

I think the video problem is separate – it’s a youtube video and there are various options for this section (eg. a slider, a static image) and this is the video option.

I have raised the problem with the theme makers, but it’s been passed onto the developers but they are taking a long time getting back to me. The client is understandably not happy at all and is pushing for me to revert the site back to its previous state – or even change host.

The animations should look like this: https://goodwordpressthemes.com/quintessential/ – this is where I built the site.

Do let me know if you need any further details – but obviously I can’t put logins etc. onto a forum.

Many thanks for looking at this.

Can you show us the page with the video on?

    Hi

It’s a one page website and the video is the first thing you see.

    https://qpromotions.net

I’ve still not heard back from the Brooklyn theme makers and I will have to revert the site back to how it was before I did the theme update later today as the client has run out of patience.

We’ve now moved the development site to test this elsewhere.

The copy of the site on my home server is also now playing up – which is kind of a relief as I now know it’s not the server/host. I think the problem is the javascript file you mentioned earlier – I’ve alerted the theme makers to this but after 7 days the site needs to be working now…

    Thanks for all your help.
