[Troubleshooting] Publishing & Editing Problem

Hey guys, I have a wordpress blog which is about a year and a half old. The blog is currently in version 2.5.1 and is a pretty big site database wise. It has about 70 categories and 2,600 posts.

Now my problem is that, when I publish or edit something it takes forever to follow threw after i have hit the “edit” or “publish” button, this site runs on a dedicated server and I have sites much larger than this one that take half a second so it is not the servers fault.

I can only publish or edit one thing at a time and I need to edit and publish about 10 posts a week so it is really frustrating. I believe it to be a database problem maybe? Is there anyway to tweak the database or to tweak this problem? Thanks in advance..
