Since you’ve traced it to the wp-members plugin, you might try asking your question in the support forum for that plugin.

The plugin may need to be upgraded. You may need to disable it via FTP so you can log in, and then reinstall it if the developer has an update that fixes the bug.

I imagine you’ll need to ask the client to re-send the activation link to you. It’s been a while since I’ve used WP-Member, but I do recall that being doable.

(Edit: And I just realized it’s the *client* who can’t log in, so yeah I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wp-members so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.)

I have not traced this issue back to WP-Members (as in I did a mound of trouble shooting and declared this was the problem), I only found a thread doing a Google search for the words “ERROR: User has not been activated.”.

I have an admin account (I built the site) and the client has an admin account. Neither of us can get logged in. No one with an admin account can login. Soooooo…. ???

Ok, so I disabled the wp-members plugin by renaming the folder. Then I was able to login. I posted this on the wp-members forum to see what can be fixed.
