Trying to add another ‘posts’ section in the main index template?!

  • Hey everyone,

    Please go here: https://www.dateunknown.com before you read this so that you can get an exact idea of what I am trying to do.

    I’m looking to:

    -Add another section below the video that updates everytime I make a new post, while keeping the video at the top. I will change the video every Monday and ALWAYS need it at the top. The section below the video should look something like: https://www.collegehumor.com (left hand column). It won’t include videos – just links and articles, etc.

    Please help with any coding or plugin suggestions.

  • If you promise to set up that video-whatever NOT to start automatically when I go the to page… I will help. Not till then, though.

    Ok, I set it up so that it doesn’t auto-start. Please help.

    1. You will need to create a category (say) “video” and publish your videos only in that category.
    2. For the written posts you can have as many other categories you want – or just one.
    3. In the index.php of the theme you need two (2) Loops – see The_Loop and its multiple Loops examples.
    4. The top Loop should display only one post from the video category.
    5. Below it, the second Loop should display the number of posts you want to show: the whole content or just excerpts – that’s a small detail.

    Basically, that’s it.
