• Hello,

I’m trying to start using Toplytics but the installation guide (for private authorization) is not up to date anymore and it makes this whole process more pain in the ass that it should.

When creating “OAuth consent screen” it wants you to choose between Internal or External? Which one I should choose? After that there is few more steps to configurate like this if I like to push my “application” out:

    Push to production?
Your app will be available to any user with a Google Account.

You’ve configured your app in a way that requires verification. To complete verification, you will need to provide:

    – An official link to your app’s Privacy Policy
    – A YouTube video showing how you plan to use the Google user data you get from scopes
    – A written explanation telling Google why you need access to sensitive and/or restricted user data
    – All your domains verified in Google Search Console`

    Hello @mcbeast,

Internal should be sufficient I believe. It doesn’t need to be approved by Google as you’re the only one to use this oAuth for your own website.

We’ll add this documentation refactor to our to-do list.

Alright. Seems that it’s impossible to create internal version of this thing. Here is the reason:

“Because you’re not a Google Workspace user, you can only make your app available to external (general audience) users.”

    Hello @mcbeast,

    Thank you for your patience.

We have tested and updated the documentation here: https://www.presslabs.com/docs/code/toplytics/installation/

Looks like you are correct. Internal works only if you have a Google Workspace account and it allows for users in that organization to login “internally”. In other cases, you should choose external.

    Hello,

    Thanks, looks great!

    ps.

I tried to show most visited posts via widget but it will always show view count no matter do you want it or not. After short period I tried to configure it with shortcode and I found out that the shortcode showviews=”false/true” is not working anymore. It started working when I changed the shortcode from showviews -> show_views.

I just wanted to let you know if you want to update installation guide ??

    Hello @mcbeast ,

Thank you for the feedback. That’s very very helpful for us.

I’ll add a task and make sure to update the docs regarding the shortcode.

    Thank you.
