Trying to connect my webhost provided email server to WP mail smtp

    Hello,
    I am very new to this so appologies if the terminology is incorrect or if what I am asking is confusing. I am trying to connect my webhost provided email servers to my wp mail smtp plugin. I believe I have all of the information correct but it will not connect correctly. I am recieving this error message
    Email Source: WP Mail SMTP
    Mailer: Other SMTP
    SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
    If anyone could assist me with correctly connecting my server to the plugin it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @molgannard,

    Thanks for reaching out! The error indicates that your web server is blocking your SMTP connection requests.

    If your SMTP configurations are correct, it could be your server’s Firewall or ModSecurity rules are blocking your SMTP connection.

    When you send a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Tools area, you should be able to see the full error. Here’s a screenshot of the option to get a full error log. This will provide you with an idea of what might be going on.

    Then, please get in touch with your hosting support with the full error log, and they should be able to assist you further.

    Hey @darshanaw,
    So I re-entered all the information into the wp mail smtp settings and I am near positive that it is all entered correctly, but when I tried to send my test email it not only did not go through but it caused a timeout error on my wp website so there was no error message to look at. I was wondering if you know what that could be about? Thank you very much for the help.

    Did you report it to your hosting/email support with the full error log?
