• I don’t have the delete site button in my tools.
I thought it was hosted by Dreamhost but they said all I’m paying for with them is access to the domain.
I’ve deleted 3 years of content from the site , it’s practically a clean slate now.
    Help please.

    Says Dreamhost.
Is there anyway to delete the main site?
I’m contacting dreamhost to cut the cord on their end.

You can break your code to return a white page. Put ‘foo’ inside a random bit of PHP in your functions.php file

Are the nameservers set to ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com and ns3.dreamhost.com?

If so, the DNS settings are still controlled through your DreamHost account so just go into them and delete the A Records for blank and “www” – this will stop the domain being pointed to your site so whilst it still exists, visitors don’t go to that site.
You’ll just need to add the new servers IP address if you decide to build a new site with a new host.

If the nameservers aren’t dreamhost.com, then see that they are – that’ll be a good indication as to where your site is hosted.

Still in the process of deletion. Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
I’ve contacted dreamhost , who claimed I didn’t have an active hosting plan, and therefore the link to end hosting is not needed.
I asked for them to close down the domain at least.

Lesson learned: it’s really hard to delete things from the internet. Guess it’ll come down eventually.
