Trying to figure out Permissions and Capabilities

    I am trying to limit the management of series to only allow those with author rights to see, create, add to, remove from, manage or delete their own series in Dashboard, preferably in such a way that I don’t have to manage each series every time one is created.

    I understand that one can use either of your Permissions or Capabilities plugins to change how users with author rights can manage their own or others’ series, but there is no documentation on how to use either for this. I have only found these two threads (1, 2), and no documentation on your site.

    I’m looking at the article, and I can see the utility of hiding other authors’ posts in dashboard, but I still see that the post edit window still shows authors all series, irrespective of author. I’m trying to limit that listing to only those created by the author. If I have to just title them as “Series #2 by [author]” so that they can tell their own apart from others, I can do that, but it would be nice to have authors only see/add/edit their own series in the post edit window.

    Another complication is that authors are currently blocked from adding their own series within the post edit window. I’m trying to find out how that happened, but that wasn’t my intention. I do want them to add their own series when creating/editing their own post.

    @harryunderwood You could limit them to only assign specific series if you setup like this:

    However it will require manual configuration. Our plugin does not have the ability to automatically limit them by Series that they created.

    Hi) I’m also looking to limit authors to only the list of series they’ve personally added, so I’d like to purchase your entire set of plugins. But will this solve the problem? I have a website with a lot of authors and all I need is for each author to add their own series and only be able to edit that series. And with the existing functionality, anyone can add anything to another author’s series, it’s a mess.

    @fanficcomua It is possible to limit authors to only the list of series they have personally added, but will require manual works. It’s currently not possible to do it automatically.
