Trying to find an answer to login

  • Absolutely frustrated beyond belief. There is jargon that I have to learn (if you aren’t used to it this is difficult). There is no immediate support and I have chased around the forum trying to get an answer. PLEASE HELP IN SIMPLE language.
    Without realising it I changed something on my wordpress website(don’t ask me what) to do with my websites address. Yes I’m female and above 40 years old. I thought I was sorting it out and now cannot log in at all. I get 404 error. Now before anyone tells me to try clearing a plugin (like how if you can’t log in — arrggghhh!). I have cleared cache, cookies, temporary file and my mind. And now am on the point of ditching the site totally to start again.
    PlEASE help and please have patience. I have wandered around and around trying to get simple clear step by step instructions on this and cannot find anything. Beyond frustrated…

    Seems you don’t remember your password right? do you remember the user name you used. then login to your site backend is easy. follow this method

    create a .php file using following code

    [Code moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]

    now upload this file to your server and access it
    domian.name/filename.php

    now you can easily change your password.

    It might help if you detailed why you can’t login. Have you lost your password or what?

    I think I have the same issue as jaxstory. Has nothing to do with not recalling user name or p/w. On the settings page, general, I inadvertently deleted “/blog” from the URL from WordPress site address and site address, and now when I attempt to log in, I get a “404 page not found.”
    Any suggestions for either of us to get back to our dashboard?
