• Hi there,

I am a brand new wordpress user and I need some help. I am trying to add a set of images to my wordpress page. Going a step further, I want the viewer to be able to click on one of the images and a thumbnail will pop up. Once the viewer is done looking at the pop up image, they can close it and return to the set of images.

I have downloaded several different plug in’s but nothing has worked for me. I need something easy and quick. Can someone suggest something to me?

    Thank you!

  • The built-in image gallery and the cleaner gallery could be a good option.

If you create a post or page, then upload images (say 3 for example) once, added, you will see that you get the option of inserting a gallery. The gallery can link to a file or attachement. Make sure you select file.

Then, if you’ve installed the cleaner gallery plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/cleaner-gallery/
the settings, allow you to open the image using thinkbox or a bunch of other options. Now when people click on a photo, they will get a pop up, but they will also have the option to move on to the next photo.

    This will do

the demo page (scroll down to see the gallery on the demo site)

Thanks Christine for the response. I added the plugin and activated it. Then, I went to my page and added the gallery and chose link to file and then chose Insert Gallery but nothing happened after.Where should I go to see the options?

    Thanks for the help.

You too David. I’m trying this plugin first. Nextgen was one of the first ones I opened but I was pretty confused.

Actually, I found where to customize the Clean Gallery and I also downloaded Floatbox plugin to work with the CleanGallery but I am able to see any changes. When I click on my image, it takes me to a new page, not to a pop up of the image…

When you insert the gallery, make sure that you select link to file and not attachement.
The shortcode in the html view should look like so:

    [gallery link="file"]

Once you have that, the gallery will open a pop with the cleaner gallery.
