[Theme: Prose] Trying to float date outside of body/wrap losing bg

Set up calendar style date on prose theme now I want to display it on a tag that hangs off the left side of the body/wrap.

I was able to get it to float using overflow:visible; in the #wrap but then I lose my background color in the wrap section.

If I add a specified height to the #wrap the background color will show BUT I do NOT want to add a specified height.

Tried a few other things nothing seems to work, any ideas?
