Trying to increase File upload size

    I know there are a number of posts here and elsewhere regarding this but I’m not sure any of them address this particular version of wordpress.
    Here is what I have done so far:
    I was limited to 8 megs so I changed mhy php.ini max upload to 1024 megs and restarted the server. Now when I try to upload media the max is 16 megs. Hmmm.
    I run my own server so I have access to everything. I’m running TurnkeyLinux’s WordPress appliance with WordPress version 3.5.1.
