    Hi all, I’m a total beginner when it comes to things like this so thank you for bearing with me.

    Currently I am trying to install wordpress but when i go to
    wp-admin/install.php
    to install it this error comes up:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /content/HostingPlus/n/i/nickcunningham.ie/web/blog/wp-includes/user.php on line 509

    I have looked around at other errors in the forums and thought it could be a problem with how I uploaded it so I have tried uploading it three to four times with no luck and the same end product.

    The code on line 509 is:
    ‘show_option_all’../../wordpress/wp-includes/ => ”, ‘show_option_none’../../wordpress/wp-includes/ => ”,

    If someone could guide me in the correct direction it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Try re-uploading everything from a fresh download of WordPress

    I have tried re-uploading everything from fresh twice including another time trying to load 2.9.0 rather then the newest vers, still the same error is coming up though.

    Any other ideas?

    Ensure that you delete all files & folders before replacing them with freshly downloaded versions. I’d also strongly recommend that you do not install anything below version 2.9.2.
