I’m trying to make a text layer stay in place for the first two slides, then fade away when the third slide comes in. However, between the first two slides I use a very slow x10 fade transition. Also, the slider is set to autoplay.

I’ve tried both of the the following methods:

    – Placing the same text layer on both slides.
Problem : The text layer on the first slide disappears at the start of the long fade transition, then the text layer on the second slide appears after the fade transition has completed. This leaves a large gap where the text is not visible.

    – Placing the text layer on an overlay slide and setting a hard delay on its fade out animation to coincide with the arrival of the third slide.
Problem : The overlay timer doesn’t reset after running through all the slides and returning to the first two (i.e. the text layer doesn’t reappear when the slideshow restarts). Also, if the uses skips through the slides using the arrow keys or other, the hard timer on the text layer is thrown out of sync.

Could anyone give me some advice on how to make this work?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @jaydek

I use a very slow x10 fade transition

So, you use the “Background animation”? I recommend removing that, and using the Main animation only. You can set that at Slider settings > Animations tab:

Background animations affect the slide backgrounds only, so if you use them, then the backgrounds are moved by the Background animation, while the layers are moved by the Main Animation. These animations work differently, so they can start and end at different times.

This is why I recommend removing the background animation, and use only the Main animation.
If you don’t have Background animation, then the Main animation moves both the layers and the backgrounds.

If you want it to switch slowly, you could give it a long Duration, like 2000MS (2second), or something even greater.

    Thank you Ramona!

That is excellent information, and worked perfectly. You have solved a problem that has plagued me all week. ^_^

    Sorry,one more quick question.

I’d like to use the slow fade for only the first transition, and then a regular speed fade for the rest of the slides in the show. Is there a way to set their transition speeds to override the the main animation setting?

    Hi @jaydek!

I’m sorry, but we don’t have an option like this. The main animation’s duration setting can only affect all slides the same way.
