Trying to remove cross-hatch pattern on byblos front page sliders

I am using Byblos, which I downloaded from Go Daddy.

I didn’t create a child theme, but I have Simple Custom CSS installed.

The theme comes with a light cross hatch pattern that overlays the images.

I want to remove that. A previous post suggested adding the statement below to the css file. I did that, but it didn’t work.

Thoughts?
