By default, if you click on the thumbnail it opens in a new tab, but if you click on the title it opens in the same window. I want to remove the link (or redirect it to the same window) from the image.

I dont know what I have done but now editing the FLAT template shows no thumbnail at all, it only shows the title and description with read more, yet the thumbnail is still displayed on the page.

When I add a thumbnail with link and point it to self, or add a thumbnail without link, I get TWO thumbnails displayed on the page.

When I create a new template called Flat2 and put a thumbnail without link, title with link pointed at self, and description with read more, I get TWO thumbnails on the page.

What have I done and how can I fix this?

PS. I have tried this in three different browsers, and both logged in and logged out of wordpress.

there is default thumbnail from media settings, you could turn it off by unchecked all source from media settings, and then you can add thumbnail from layout editor.

I was trying Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer but I am not sure I tried clicking on the image in anything other than Chrome.

Unclicking the media settings allowed me to remove the image which I then added back editing the flat theme. One interesting problem, however, is when I add thumbnail with link I do not see a link target that I can set. I thought there was a target setting there?

    Thanks.
