So I have a website that I was developing on a subdomain of my primary website. The client decided to host with me so I created space on my server for their domain and then changed the domain within wordpress to their domain and the transfer worked. This way I avoided needing to edit config.php

So that is good, but now I need to reset my development space. So I made a copy of the websites database, I created a new database and then imported the copy into the new database that I created.

All of the old files are already in the subdomain.domain.com section, so all I need to do is correctly link these files to new database.

In the documentation it tells me to edit the config.php file and update the database name, database user, and database password.

I have done these three things, and they are correct according to my host media temple.

Now when I log into subdomain.domain.com/wp-admin it redirects me to my old website, not sure what is happening here.

this is the url that I get redirected to:

    https://michelleterrell.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmichelleterrell.hawtinconsulting.net%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

I feel like I am missing a step in the documentation or with managing databases that I have not completely wrapped my head around.

I really need to get this process down as I have multiple sites coming up that I am going to need to be doing this with.

I so appreciate any assistance on this topic and am open to hiring a tutor to teach me how this works.

    thanks a ton!!!

    Jaclyn
