• I followed the instructions provided, got the ok screen on the wp-config.php file, got to my site, and it’s the same. It still says I need to upgrade. I spent almost 2 hours making sure I followed all the directions. I don’t know what else to do at this point. I am not a programmer…

I did a manual install via Filezilla. Or does it just take a while to settle in? What is the problem? I could use some help.

Oh…I got the original WP through my host. (one-click) They offer no help in upgrading. Should I just delete my WP from their server and do the one-click again for their upgrade?

    Thank you in advance

  • your posts are stored in your database. \\

I see that you just restored your wp-config.php and all is there.

    nice.

I have lots of luv for technology, but I know when I’ve spent too much time on a thing…it’s 2am here and I’ve been at it since 9:30, not counting the hours prior just reading up and testing that automatic upload plugin. Gotta get on with the rest of my life.

How do you see all that?

actually I dont, i was mistaken — i just see the askimet post.

Alright…may be a dumb question. Where in the heck is my database?

Better ‘dumb’ question — can I restore it from the dashboard? How?

You can’t. With a little luck your delete action was with FTP and only concerned the WP files and not the database. The latter you can see using your control panel where I suppose you created it before installing WP the first time.

The database is in my admin. How do I get to my old posts? Or should I just get the copies I have on my computer?

upload your old wp-config.php (didnt I allude to that before???)

if you didnt delete the database, you will know immediately.

( So far, youre real good at doing things your own way, and not so good at taking help. Its not real conducive to getting help if the other person feels like their help isnt being heeded. )

(What time is it where you are?)
My host changed all the info on the config file. I don’t want to upend anything. The new config file must be tied to the new installation.

I’m not sure why you think I didn’t take/want your help. Some of what you were telling me is over my head, but your help was/is appreciated.

I’m going to call it a night.

its 3am where I am — best of luck.

    Thanks for the tips here.
Oddly I upgraded one site (all on the same server in different domains)
    No problem.
The other two sites… error 500
Now, I have the all sites up (front pages) but not all the admin. I can log in but then getting a blank page on two sites, (the first still fine!)
    Any clues?
