Trying to upload logo image

  • I am a newbie with creating a WordPress site. After I upload and then insert my logo under SITE LOGO & TAGLINE a red X appears beside the image. There is no error message. Is my logo image too big or the wrong shape? The thing is the logo appears like I want it on the site anyway. It is a jpeg. Please advise.?

    I am not familiar with media library.

    It’s where your media items are stored for your WordPress site, you can access it via the Media menu.

    Yes, the image is there. It is cut off on either side. This media library shows square-shaped boxes.
    My image is oblong-shaped. I need to shrink it down so it fits in the box? Funny, it shows fine on the website.
