tt.mm.yyyy in date field?

For some reason Chrome is showing tt.mm.jjjj by default in my date fields (I’m in Germany). Can’t remember that I have set this somewhere. Is there any possibility to avoid this and instead simply have the calendar pop out when you try to enter a date?
