Tuning > Max Combined File Size Setting

    Hello,

    I am currently using Litespeed Cache Version 3.4.2?on a Litespeed Enterprise server version 5.4.9.

    Under Page Optimization > Tuning > Max Combined File Size:

    The Recommended value or the Max Combined File Size is 2 MB by default.

    Is there a way to calculate what we would be the best setting for this?

    Would a setting of 3 MB or 4MB completely cause heavy memory usage on a dedicated server?

    I know that this might depend on server type, hosting type, traffic etc, but there must be a way to configure this to best fit your individual site environment.

    Any guidance or recommendation you can provide would be great.

    Hi,

    It’s not about memory usage in this case

    if one signal file , particular for JS or CSS gets too big , if it takes longer time to load and may block your page render or delay something that relies on JS/CSS

    Hi,

    This is the actual description your plugin gives on this:

    “Specify the maximum size in megabytes for combined files. Larger numbers will generate fewer files, which is better for achieving higher page scores, but can cause heavy memory usage. Recommended value: 2”

    You said “It’s not about “memory usage in this case”, but your plugin says “can cause heavy memory usage”, so I am confuse here.

    So does this mean that the Recommended value: 2 is the same for a share hosting as well for a dedicated server, and a value of for example 3 or 4 can break a site no matter what the environment is?

    Hi,

    yeah well , that is a “description” inherited from “ancient” time , on any modern server , RAM usage in this part should not really be any issue anymore , unless your hosting has very restricted RAM usage.

    on my personal experience on many WP sites I’ve worked with , on shared and dedicated server or VPS , yes , 2 is still optimal for most cases , suggest to leave it as it is
