  • I so totally agree with you on this one!!!
but to call them idiots is little harsh, I would rather hope they are smart enough to understand us and bounce back with a great solution but they really need to be careful next time as their recent behavior was very unprofessional!

Intentions do count and the plugin authors are a) aware of the problems and are working on it and b) are providing a plugin for free. Calling the plugin author “idiots” is uncalled for.

Calling them unprofessional is better but unfounded.

Plugin users are not customers. It’s a different relationship and you can stop using the plugin any time you like. Name calling won’t inspire anyone to fix your problem.

Self-hosted WordPress installations are 100% your responsibility. Yes, a bad plugin upgrade can ruin your day but would you help people who called you names?

Sorry guys but I stand by what I said. Not because they released it without properly checking it but because they are continuing to let people update their plugin and then get locked out of admin. That is inexcusable and that is why I called them idiots.

They maybe providing the plugin for free but they do have a commercial intent in creating a user base that may upgrade to become paying customers.

So please turn off other the ability to update the plugin and so preventing any more unsuspecting users getting there sites messed up.

Looks like the only idiot here is you Fergusmcd. Did they have issues with the launch? Yeah. Looking at the code it’s a completely new plugin and I’m not sure they kept anything but the download count . That said, they pushed the beta for at least a month on these forums and elsewhere? How many issues did you report? On my own site they put up a version a week or two before the launch posting they were completely redoing it and to be ready. Given the multitude of warnings and communication on the part of Ithemes I would call it difficult on their part but they definitely did their due diligence in terms of testing and input.

That said, if even I could see the potential for upgrade issues and therefore would wait after the ample testing and communication by IThemes and I held off upgrading until today (no issues by the way) it looks like the only idiot here is you. Next time try reading.
