    Hello everyone,
I’m a total noob, just set up my web site today.
Don’t know what version of WP, just selected top number, don’t know where to find it on the site.
I have tried the suggestions in the trouble shooting thread to turn off comments everywhere on my site and they don’t work. I also do not know how to access the code to edit it to take out all comments on all pages and blog as suggested. Customer service is useless as they don’t help with this type of question.
I need someone to hold my hand and take me step by step to solve my dilemma. Any help would be most appreciated!

    Regards,

    Scott

You can either uncheck the check box Allow people to post comments on new articles at discussion settings (dashboard) or use a plugin like
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/disable-comments/

Thanks Krishna, but the file would no upload. “Couldn’t find directory end.. etc.”

I’m going to need another solution to this problem. I can’t believe it is this complicated to disable comments! Why isn’t this a simple process, can somebody explain please?

    Thanks for your help Krishna!

I just checked my list of plugins already uploaded to my site. There is one called ‘Akismet’. It staed in the description that it ..”protect your blog from comment and trackback spam”

Will this prevent comments or is this something different?

    Thanx much!

Akismet stops what it catches as SPAM in comments and is held in spam que so that you can either un-spam genuine comments wrongly held or delete them.

    OK,

The provided settings are working. What was happening is that I was viewing the web site as an admin and it was allowing me to post. When I viewed the site with out logging in, the box stated that I had to be logged in to post….problem solved!

    Thanx for the help, Krishna!
