Turn off desktop notifications

    1) Is there a setting to turn off the desktop notifications?
    2) Who receives them? All users who have allowed the site’s desktop notifications?
    3) We already use desktop notifications for something else, is that why I wasn’t asked to allow them – because they are already allowed for the site?

    If so, and if the answer to #2 is all users who have previously allowed them for our already existing use of them, then it sounds like ALL of those users got a notification for my initial chat test message.

    Can you help clarify this?

    Glad to help:

    1) Not yet, it will be added hopefully next update.

    2) The notifications display for anyone viewing the chat box. Each user can disable or enable the notifications via their browser.

    3) How notifications are displayed varies from browser to browser, so that could be the case, it just depends on the site, etc.

    1) That would be incredible! We have been looking for a chat plugin for our membership site, and was so happy to find yours, but, if a user was to turn off browser permission to allow notifications, they would miss our other notifications which we cannot do.

    So the only way we can use it is if we can disable your desktop notifications, so if you add that as an update, we would be quite grateful.

    Do you have any idea when they might be?

    Also, at that point, would it be possible to have an plugin setting to turn them on or off that would be independent of the browser settings? (That way we could leave the browser setting on for our other notifications.) Regardless, this 2nd part is extra – more importantly we hope to use the plugin and it’d be ok if notifications were disabled.

    Hi Ben,

    Glad to help:

    I usually update my plugins along with each major WP release, so for example WP v5.6, 5.7, 5.8, etc.). I just released an update for the upcoming WP v5.7, so the next update probably will be sometime this summer around the time when WP 5.8 drops.

    Yeah the setting will simply disable the SAC plugin notifications completely.
