    Hi guys

I clicked the dialog box to off on the theme page and now I can’t delete my themes.

How do I get it back?

    Thanks in advance

I always delete my themes by using a FTP program or by using the FILE MANAGER from the cpanel of the host. You can delete plugins once they are deactivated but I am pretty sure you cannot delete themes through the current WordPress interface.

    From your Dashboard:

Appearance > Themes > Hover over the theme you want to delete and click on “Theme Details” > In the lower right corner of the theme detail page that opens, you will find the Delete button. The exception: You can’t delete an active theme. You will need to activate a different theme prior to deleting an active one.

Didn’t think of the FTP… doh!

Clayton – That is not working and hasn’t since I turned off the dialog box that comes up… ??

Apologies.. my response was geared more toward replying to @bob Cristello – (“I am pretty sure you cannot delete themes through the current WordPress interface.”)

not working and hasn’t since I turned off the dialog box that comes up… ??

I don’t believe ever I’ve encountered a dialog that allows me to turn that feature off. Are you still able to open the pop-up page that gives you the option to live-preview or activate a different theme?

Yeah I get it when I am posting as well… might be Chrome. I may have to see if I can ‘unlock’ it though Chrome.

I can use other themes so that is fine but I now have about 8 on there due to the fact that it is my test site so experimenting with things… having fun as well! ??

    Kriss ??

I also clicked the dialog box to off on the theme page and now I can’t delete my themes and can’t restore my backups. Is there solution for that?

I opened my theme on other browser (Firefox), and I was able to delete old themes and restore my backup.

What you need to do is go into the settings and then content settings under privacy and allow your site to have pop ups and then it will work again.

Sorry should have put that on here.

    Kriss ??

Hi. I am having the same issue. I clicked on the ‘Do not allow this page to generate dialogue pop ups’ – the ones that appear when you are deleting something – thinking that this would mean that I could delete without confirming the deletion in the dialogue box. Now it appears, that without being able to confirm the deletion in this dialogue box, I can’t delete anything. I have searched through WordPress settings and documentation, and also checked that Chrome is allowing pop ups (it is), but cannot find out how to reactivate the dialogue box. Any ideas anyone?

Not sure about this as it worked for me…

Did you do the whole site or just the admin side? You do need to do it for the whole site not just a certain page. Hope that helps?

    Kriss ??

    Thanks Kriss.

I logged on this am and the dialogue box has returned. It seems to be that if you check the confirm delete dialogue box to prevent the page from generating further pop ups, it only relates to that session. I checked the box again to test and it prevented all pops up appearing. I logged out of wordpress, then closed and opened Chrome, and the pop ups were restored. I can now delete things to my hearts content…

Drama over! Thanks for your help.
