Turning blog page into News page

For my website for an organic farm, I wanted to have news, not a blog. To facilitate posting news items, I had what seemed a brilliant idea to title the pre-set blog page as NEWS.

It seems to work fine, as new posts go to that page, which comes up when the “News” button in the main menu is selected. Its permalink is https://www.lydiasfields.com/ourfarm/news/. When I click the “Edit” button on that page, it brings me to the Edit Post page, which is not a problem.

The problem arose when I tried to remove the right sidebar from the News page because it displays a redundant “News” and “Photo Gallery”). It displays the blog permalink, but changing its attributes to remove the right sidebar does not alter layout of the News page that displays the blog posts.

I realize there is probably a better way to do this that I just don’t know. Please help!
