• On our site, https://azhchcevents.org/, on our blog page, comments aren’t showing up, i.e. letting people leave comments.

Now, the main page “Things to Do in Phoenix” I can’t for the life of me figure out how to turn them off. In most prior ver. or WP, before 3.7.1, it was simple, by deselecting “allow comments” down at very bottom.

NOW no changes I make under GENERAL SETTINGS, READING SETTINGS, WRITING, OR DISCUSSION lets me get this function turned off. How frustrating! What can I do?

I currently am using theme 2011. Have tried the 2012 theme also.

  • To disable comments on future Pages/Posts, uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion. Then edit each published Page or Post and uncheck “Allow comments” in each case. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

Thanks for the quick response. I actually already unchecked “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion. I have even tried clearing my browser cache: same result. Doesn’t matter what theme I use either: I’ve tried 3. Also, I notice now, lately, that SCREEN OPTION up in the right corner of screen no longer appears at all, nothing at all to click on. So, down at very bottom of a page I’m editing I can’t deselect “allow discussion/comments.”

Sounds like you should deactivate ALL plugins and switch to the default theme to start troubleshooting what may be going on.

Have you modified twentyeleven at all?
