In OceanWP customizer>blog> you can check in or out what you want to show.
Simply uncheck the read more for example and that shoudl take care of that part.

Actually I think you are posting in the wrong forum.

You are now ( I think ) using the default wordpress way to show blogposts on your homepage. There are several plugins that can let you add blogposts anywhere on your site too. Just google please, we are not allowed here to promote other third party plugins.

ok –?thanks @logologics. I have no idea what I’m doing. I can’t even find the OceanWP customiser. I thought that what I’m trying to do was automatically on by default. Between all of these theme things and wp and elementor, I’ve got quite the confused state going on. I’ll do what you said. I also had trouble just finding this forum, so I don’t know how I’ll find the one you mentioned – but I’ll try.

Thanks a bunch for your help – I was going to to try and put up an image to show where I was looking but couldn’t find an attachment button.. how’d you do it?

I actually use paid snagit for that, but you can find free ways to add a link to a screenshot too.

I’m on mac and it’s got a screen grabber – I’m just curious as to how you attached the image to your post. I think I’ve made some progress with turning off the ‘read more’ and unwanted meta stuff. Now my post image is absent. One step forward.. such is life.

True, but in these forums it is not allowed to attach an image or screenhot.
That is why you need an online one that saves the image for a while in a cloudservice so you can share that link here for otheres to view.
