I use the Featured Images widget in my sidebar without image thumbnails, only text. This worked fine until I updated your plugin to the latest version (1.31), when suddenly images appeared (well, grey gravatars for a lack of uploaded testimonial images).

I made sure there’s no tick/check in the box for Featured Image in the widget, but it still displays a grey gravatar on each featured testimonial in my sidebar. This looks really bad plus it pushes the content below the end of the fixed size box. Why doesn’t this work properly? How can I get rid of the images in the widget please?

    Hello!

Can you let me know what the “Featured Images widget” is? I’m not entirely sure I understand what you are trying to do vs. what is actually happening.

Also, can you show me a link to the website where this is happening? That will help as well.

    Best,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I see I used the wrong word in my first sentence. I meant I use the Testimonials widget in the sidebar to display featured testimonials.

In the widget settings, I’d turned images off, but after the update to the latest version, the default grey avatar appeared and stayed there even though the image box wasn’t ticked.

In any event, I’ve spent some more time looking into it since my post and I found that I could turn off images in the overall settings of the plugin, which I have now done and that solved the problem. Not sure if that now means that I can’t use images on my Testimonials page either though, so you may want to look into that, why just turning images off in the widget doesn’t seem to work (while it did work in your previous version).

    Thanks,
    Micky

Where is this setting? I am having this problem as well. I have images turned off in the sidebar widget but the plugin is still trying to show them and showing a broken image since we’re not using a featured image for these.

Curiously, we have three rotating testimonials, and the first one that appears on the page does not show a broken image, but the other two in the rotation do.

    Thanks for any help.

@spaciousmind: From the Easy Testimonials Settings in the left sidebar of your WordPress dashboard, click the second tab: Display Options, and scroll down to the section headed Testimonial Images. Good luck.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I’m having exactly the same issue since update. The featured image is showing up in the widget despite it being unclicked/checked in the widget options and unchecked in display options in the main settings. I have tried checking and unchecking but to no avail.

    Hey there –

No problem! We have identified an issue that is causing the global Show Testimonial Image option to override the Widget, in the event that the Featured Image box in the Widget is un-checked.

We have an update ready that will fix this issue, be sure to grab the next release as it becomes available.

Thanks for all of your help in tracking this down!

    Best,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

That’s great news, thanks for letting us know. For info, the global Show Testimonial Image option is already unchecked for me, as is the widget option, yet the featured image is still showing up in the widget!
i look forward to the update.
