• Hi folks, I am currently using a free wordpress theme but want to upgrade to a Pro-theme. Now I know that there will be a lot of tweaking to be done to my new theme before I am ready to switch over. What is the best way to do this? I have read things about setting up a local server to host a mirror but I don’t really understand it. Is there a simple/easy way to do this? I feel like this would be a common thing. Any thoughts you can offer would be great. Even if it s to tell me that doing it would be overly-difficult and I should should just install my theme and tweak it while my site is live ??

    Thanks again

  • If you don’t want to tweak on your live site, and if you don’t want to set-up a local install, then just set-up a second (testing) install of WP on your host and do your tweaking there. See the following video for how to quickly set-up a second install.

Thanks figaro, your video helped me understand how I can do it but I also saw that your new blog lost the content, theme and formatting of the blog it was copied from. I need to have my test blog retain all the content from my original so I can see how it would look. Ideally I could have the two blogs be synchronized in terms of content but just have them operating on different themes. Is that possible?

    Thanks again!
