tweaking home page

Hi all, new to wp, my site is https://help-with-diabetes.com ,
on the right hand side, on home page, there is a couple menu items,
image advirtisments and banner, Why do they show, and can i remove them, also having a hard time putting ads on home page, I wonder if it would be easier if i made home page static??
