I know the fact that WordPress’s search function is so lame has been beat to death, but I still haven’t found the solution I’m seeking. I can’t stand how WordPress returns search results for pages based on recency vs. relevancy. (I’m speaking of pages, primarily. I can understand bringing up more recent blog posts higher in the search results, but static pages should be sorted by relevance, IMHO.) I know there are some plugins that help this, but they don’t work with the instant search plugins I like, such as Search Light.

So anyway, I was wondering this: if I edit all of my pages to have the same publish date & time, will the search results then be sorted by relevance?

    thanks,
    Mike

Well, I tried it. I changed all of my pages to the same publish date & time. The relevance of search results is still terrible. I also tried a hack mentioned in this thread, to make the search look at the title only instead of the content, but it didn’t work.

    Any other suggestions?

    thanks,
    Mike
